Oil Cleansing: A Gentle Approach to Removing Makeup, Surface Oils & Everyday Buildup

Cleansing is an important first step in a skincare routine. The goal is simple: remove makeup, surface oils, sunscreen, and everyday buildup while leaving the skin feeling clean and comfortable.

Oil cleansing offers a different sensory experience from traditional foaming cleansers. Instead of relying on a lathering system, an oil-based cleanser uses cosmetic oils to help loosen and lift oil-soluble residue from the surface of the skin.

Good to know: No single cleansing method is best for everyone. The right cleanser depends on your skin preferences, the complete formulation, and how your skin feels after use.

What Cleansing Is Designed to Do

Throughout the day, makeup, sunscreen, natural surface oils, and environmental residue can accumulate on the skin. A cleanser helps remove this buildup so the skin feels fresh and ready for the next step in your routine.

Different cleansers accomplish this in different ways. Foaming, cream, gel, micellar, balm, and oil cleansers can all be appropriate cosmetic choices when properly formulated. The experience varies according to the ingredients and the finished formulation.

How Oil Cleansing Works

Oil-based cleansers are formulated with emollient oils that help loosen makeup, sunscreen, surface oils, and other oil-soluble residue during cleansing.

The cleanser can then be rinsed away with lukewarm water or gently removed with a warm, damp cloth according to the product directions. The result is a cleansing method that can leave the skin feeling clean, soft, and conditioned.

The Innova Essential Skin Approach

Innova Essential Skin Facial Cleanser is an oil-based formula made with a blend of botanical carrier oils, Tocopherol, a Sunflower Seed Oil carrier, and aromatic essential oils.

Each ingredient has a defined cosmetic or formulation role, including cleansing, emolliency, conditioning, skin feel, formula stability, or aroma.

Thoughtfully Made in Small Batches

Innova Essential Skin products are produced in documented small batches with attention to ingredient measurement, mixing, filling, labeling, and product consistency.

Rather than positioning one type of cleanser as universally better than another, our goal is to provide transparent information about what is in the formula, why the ingredients are included, and how the product is intended to be used.

A Simple Cleansing Philosophy

Cleansing does not need to be complicated. A well-formulated cleanser should perform its intended cosmetic purpose while providing a skin feel you enjoy and can use consistently within your routine.
